1. That j-Com would create a version of the look-up program that would
work from the command line only, support addition/update of data a keep
the program that does this down in size. The 160K of HB.EXE 3.0 is just
too big and is the reason that this version of HamBase will not work
with the server; it is just too darn big!
2. Better yet j-Com would be more supportive to programmers trying to
develop applications for their program. It sure would be nice to KNOW
how the data is outputted (and how to get it to output it in that format)
instead of having to figure it out. Accessing the data directly, instead
of having the server run their program first, would also be sort of nice
(and faster).
3. When/if HamBase does support addition/revision to create a version of this
server that allows updating the data. Then the server would create a
message containing the update data to a "regional server" that would update
itself and then send update messages to the REQHB servers in its area (maybe
even other "regional servers"?)
4. Ham Base would have a way to search for last names and zipcodes without
using the /F option. This would make the SEARCH server practical since
your hard disk wouldn't have to be accessed forever in order to carry out
the search.
5. People would send me their opinions: "I like it", "I dislike it",
"It would be better if ...", "Wish # 3. is not practical", "Wish #3
is crazy!", "Wish #3 sounds interesting", etc...
